PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

 
 

The Welding / Pipe Fabrication Technology Department is dedicated to offering the opportunity for a quality technical education in the career field of welding to all qualified persons in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the college.  The technology strives to provide an education working in concert with the sciences, humanities, and other general education courses that promote critical thinking skills in problem solving areas.  The Program promotes applying the whole education to the technology, so graduates may become more valued and productive technicians. 

Students will be granted the opportunity to attain the ability to ascertain content information from materials and text chosen in order to enhance the classroom learning environment.  The program will meet individual needs of all students and their particular learning styles and provide feedback regarding his/her progress utilizing fair and accurate evaluation methods with specifically established criteria in both task performance and text performance. 

Faculty members in the Program will continue educational efforts to remain current in techniques and methods to bring the above elements to fruition.  The Program will support the disciplines of mathematics and communications by integrating them into the technology aspect of the educational experience.  Together with the assignments in technology, critical thinking and improved communication will become possible.  The Program will be periodically modified, as needed,  to stay current with skills and processes demanded by industry.   All of these elements will work together to create a global perspective for graduates of Welding / Pipe Fabrication Technology.

  • Formulate and maintain an active Advisory Committee
  • Utilize the resources of the Advisory Committee to modify the Program as needed
  • Actively seek members of the esoteric community and recruit membership for the Advisory Committee
